Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 4 cups bread flour All-purpose flour can be a sturdy alternative.
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk For a dairy-free option, use evaporated milk with sugar.
  • 2 teaspoons yeast Ensure it’s fresh for best results.
  • 1/4 cup butter Can be swapped for margarine or a plant-based alternative.
  • 1 cup milk Almond or other plant-based milks work beautifully as substitutes.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Measure carefully for the best balance.
  • 1 large egg Can be replaced with a flaxseed mixture for a vegan version.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Loaf Pan
  • Oven
  • wire rack

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Cloud Soft Condensed Milk Bread
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the yeast with warm water (around 110°F) until it's foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Add the sweetened condensed milk, milk, and melted butter to the foamy yeast.
  4. Gradually pour this liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough, transfer it to a floured surface, shape it into a loaf, and place it seam-side down in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover the loaf pan with a kitchen towel and let it rise again for 30 minutes; preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Once risen, bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
