- In a medium bowl, toss the sliced flank steak or sirloin with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until well-coated. Allow to rest for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat the skillet over medium-high heat and add 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Cook the beef in a single layer for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Flip the beef and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fully cooked. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, chilli flakes, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
- With the skillet still over medium-high heat, pour the prepared sauce into the pan, scraping up any brown bits. Allow to simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Return the crispy beef to the skillet, toss in the sauce to coat evenly, and heat for an additional minute. Garnish and serve.
