- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining the pasta.

- Add red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir for about 30 seconds.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing with the garlic mixture. Gradually add reserved pasta water until desired sauce consistency is reached.
- Remove from heat and mix in parsley, lemon zest, and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve divided among bowls, garnished with extra Parmesan and parsley if desired.
