Ingredients

For the Sauté
  • 1 medium Zucchini A firm, medium-sized zucchini is ideal for balancing tenderness with a slight crisp in the final dish.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Essential for a rich flavor; avocado oil or butter can offer a different taste profile if desired.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic elevates the dish’s aroma and flavor; garlic powder can be substituted.
For the Finish
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese Provides a creamy, cheesy burst; nutritional yeast can be used for a dairy-free option.

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by washing the zucchini thoroughly under cool running water. Slice the zucchini into ¼ inch rounds or half-moons to ensure even cooking. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, pour in olive oil and heat over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add prepared zucchini to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the zucchini. Allow the cheese to melt.
  6. Garnish with freshly chopped basil or parsley.
  7. Serve immediately.
