- Start by placing ground beef in a large mixing bowl, then sprinkle in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder (if using), dried sage, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes. Gently stir to combine.
- Using your hands, blend the mixture until everything is evenly integrated. Be careful not to overwork the meat.
- Taste a small piece of the mixture by cooking it in a skillet to check for seasoning. Once satisfied, mold the sausage mixture into patties about 2-3 inches wide and ½ inch thick.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. If the skillet isn't nonstick, add a splash of vegetable oil. Place the patties in the skillet, cooking them for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip and cook an additional 4-5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
