  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Add more for spiciness
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Can substitute with onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder Optional
  • 1 tbsp Dried Sage Thyme can be a substitute
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes Optional
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
For Cooking
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil Can use nonstick spray

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Start by placing ground beef in a large mixing bowl, then sprinkle in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder (if using), dried sage, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes. Gently stir to combine.
  2. Using your hands, blend the mixture until everything is evenly integrated. Be careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Taste a small piece of the mixture by cooking it in a skillet to check for seasoning. Once satisfied, mold the sausage mixture into patties about 2-3 inches wide and ½ inch thick.
  4. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. If the skillet isn't nonstick, add a splash of vegetable oil. Place the patties in the skillet, cooking them for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip and cook an additional 4-5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Transfer cooked patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat. Serve immediately.
