  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Can substitute with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Can use regular milk mixed with 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar.
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Melted.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Optional but recommended.
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar Light or dark as you prefer.
  • 2 tbsp Ground cinnamon Adjust to your liking.
For the Cream Cheese Drizzle
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Softened.
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 2 tbsp Milk Any type works.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Optional.

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  6. Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron. Pour about 1/2 cup of the batter onto the center and swirl the cinnamon mixture on top.
  7. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  8. Carefully remove the waffles and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
  9. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and optional vanilla extract.
