Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the skillet over low heat for about 2 minutes.
  2. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread in the skillet with the mayonnaise side down, layer with cheddar cheese and sprinkle with black pepper. Add the second slice, mayonnaise side up.
  4. Press down with a spatula and grill for about 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Flip and grill the other side for another 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown as well.
  6. Remove from the skillet, let cool briefly, slice, and serve with tomato soup or salad.
