Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Pat the beef chuck roast dry with paper towels and rub with olive oil. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Transfer the seared beef to the Crockpot, centered for optimal cooking. Cover with the lid.
  4. Combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce in a mixing bowl. Mix well to blend flavors.
  5. Pour the broth mixture over the beef in the Crockpot, ensuring it coats the meat evenly.
  6. Cover the Crockpot and set to low, cooking for 8 hours until the beef is tender.
  7. After 8 hours, remove the roast and shred with two forks, then return to the Crockpot.
  8. Slice hoagie rolls open and optionally add provolone cheese. Broil for 1-2 minutes for melting.
  9. Assemble the sandwiches by filling each roll with shredded beef and serve with au jus for dipping.
