Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan with butter. Line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cardamom, and saffron strands. Whisk gently to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Carefully add the eggs into the butter-sugar mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually fold in the dry mixture into the creamed butter, sugar, and eggs until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in chopped pistachios into the batter for added texture.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
