Step-by-Step Instructions for Hawaiian Beef Skewers
- Begin by cutting your tri-tip steak into 1 ½" cubes. Place the cubes in a large resealable storage bag.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together minced garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until well combined. Set aside one-third of this for later use.
- Pour the marinade over the beef cubes inside the bag, seal it and toss gently. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.
- While the beef marinates, cut pineapple, red bell pepper, and onion into 1 ½" pieces.
- Thread the marinated beef, pineapple chunks, bell pepper pieces, and onion slices onto your skewers, alternating each ingredient.
- In a small bowl, mix the reserved marinade with ketchup and honey to create your basting sauce.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat, around 350°F. Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
- Place the assembled skewers on the grill and cook for approximately 15 minutes, turning every 2-3 minutes and basting during the last few turns.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; aim for 145-150°F for medium.
- Once done, remove skewers from the grill and let them rest. Serve sprinkled with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes
For best flavor, marinate beef overnight and ensure all ingredients are cut uniformly for even cooking.
